Meeting called to order at 9:00 am with following members present; B.Spitler, J.Dunson, C.Olsen, P.Wilkinson, P.Decker, H.Rouse, J.Applegate, J.Bell, B.& C.Grefenstette, R.Spitler
Treasurers report given with balance of $298 in checking. $600 in dues were still outstanding.
Old Business
Jeff personally paid to remove outhouses at a cost of $500. The board did agree to remove, but had not approved the cost. After approval of the $500 by the Board, Jeff to be reimbursed.
Discussion of reducing the Board from 7 to 5 was tabled for later date. Also method of selecting Board members to be reviewed. J.Applegate was to present info reguarding the inclusion of eligibility for more members at next meeting.
New Business
A timber company has proposed to Jeff a plan whereby they could harvest Corp. timber by accessing from Recon. This proposal would have to be reviewed by the Board prior to acceptance. What advantages to Recon would have to be spelled out in a contract.
A discussion of Recon spending as it related to non Recon property was conducted. There was a difference of opinion on this subject. Maintaining safety for Recon members was a priority, so any situation on or off Recon of a safety concern would be addressed if spending was required. Otherwise the Board of Directors would determine the appropriate actions that would be required. From the By-Laws “ Such Directors shall in all cases act as a Board, regularly convened, by a majority and they may adopt such rules and regulations for the conduct of their meetings and the management of the Corporation, as they deem proper, non inconsistent with these By-Laws and the State of Virginia”.
July 4th festivities begining with a golf cart parade at 6:30 on Saturday, to be followed by the potluck dinner. Donations will be accepted for fireworks, and personal fireworks can be included. The high powered mortars and other similar fireworks are deemed to dangerous and illegal to use, so please respect everyones safety.
A cornhole tournament will be held with a $10 entry fee (per person/team ?).
The riprap project to save the beach will be funded entirely by donations, so if you can all donations would be appreciated. Jeff will be collecting for the project.
